If I understand it correctly, she downloads templates from Ben Kwok, a very talented artist featured before, here on DesignStack. The template has a simple outline, to which van Garderen adds the pattern designs and colors. A collaborations between artists, that help others and provide part of the finished piece, leaving it to them to add their creativity and interpretation, on any given piece. Very cool and inclusive system, love the idea.
A Zentangle, is an abstract drawing created using repetitive patterns according to the trademarked Zentangle Method. True Zentangle drawings are always created on 3.5 inch (8.9 cm) square tiles, and they are always done in black ink on white paper with grey pencil shading. The form has now changed to encompass many different hybrids.
