Californian based Artist Kisoo Chai gives us an interesting variety of portraits to look at.

Interesting because many of the portraits on the internet seem, in my experience, to be fixed on some rigid parameters.

Chai transcends these stereotypes by casting a wide net, capturing differences and variety.

There seems to be no filters, but a real focus on finding the best and most interesting subjects to capture, on his charcoal on paper drawings.

For me, this is not about inclusivity, but about looking for the best. A portrait is not just based on the similarities with the original subject, or the technique involved in executing a good drawing.
Given the same talent and proficiency of drawing, the right subject can make the difference between a good piece and an outstanding one.

If you start filtering models, based on arbitrary reasons, you are doing a disservice to both art and yourself. Missing out on amazing expressions and fantastic features full of character.
