Andrew Hamilton drew all of the buildings you see on this page.
The artist presents his work in two different ways. One is within a frame, delineating the view and the other one is a more liberal and sometimes edge-to-edge depiction.
All of the buildings chosen have a classic view. There are no modern buildings in this post. It's not much of a surprise, as there is so much design work and detailing in these forms that it must be very alluring choice for an artist.
Drawings of castles, mansions and generally imposing buildings pepper this page. Each one standing proud, showcasing their attributes.
I love the bridge walk to the castle in the first drawing. It looks like a one-way road to a secluded and peaceful place.
My next choice is the Greyfriars Bobby. Fantastic building masterfully detailed by Hamilton. He also remembered to include the dog's sculpture on a plinth.
Following, is the Balmoral Scott. You can see the lovely building and sculpture through what looks like a window or an entrance/opening. It gives the feeling of a private viewing spot. One that frames the sight in front of us perfectly .
I will conclude with the last drawing on the page. The one of a narrow but impressive view of Edinburgh. You definitely get a sense for the design and feel of the city.
