Impractical Inventions - The Uncomfortable

Greek Designers and Architect Katerina Kamprani of kkstudio provide images for this ongoing projects.  The way @floppykat writes about this project, seems to want to show deliberate bad design to compare to some of the ones out there.  Maybe if we know what constitutes good and what constitutes bad design, we can recognise the bad ones more readily.  We are not going to name names, but in the last few years there have been quite a few examples of major companies turning out bad design features on their products, that could almost justify putting them on this list.  To get the best effect, once in the article you can enlarge the image by pressing it (not the first one).

Hotel Rooms Artistic Designs

Amazing display of art in these rooms, in the Hotel Fox in Copenhagen that has now gone. This project saw 21 Artists come together free of charge,  to decorate the 61 rooms with unique art.  The artists were given free range in what they could do, allowing them to choose everything from furniture, carpet and wallpaper.  The amazing variety of rooms in the Hotel, insured complete surprise, of the guests, when they entered their room for the first time.  More information about the fate of the Fox Hotel in the article.  Apart from liking the artwork you can use the inspiration to make a complete design transformation in a room of your house or every one?  To get the best effect, once in the article you can enlarge the image by pressing it (not the first one).

Fine Art Shoes

Talented Artist derives inspiration from classic works of art to paint these high heels.  Boyarde Messenger, is said to paint on everything but paper.  Nice to see someone making something as mass produced as shoes in to something individual and unique.  Just show that if you have the will, you can customise just about anything. Cycling Skinsuit

Bonsai Tree Islands

I was originally thinking of paring these images up like the one on the front page, but then you wouldn't be able to enjoy and appreciate the level on this live sculpture.  Japanese Artist Takanori Aiba.  The installation above is called Hawaiian Pineapple Resort.

Maze Aquarium

This labyrinth aquarium looks really interesting and a lot of fun.  You can probably spend hours looking at the fish explore every compartment of the tanks.  It looks very well crafted and measures H 1372mm x W 1295mm x D 1067mm.  You can find one for sale at Opulentitems (not cheap $6500 though).
