This is the second time we feature Kim Clough aka (fairchildart) an Artist with an amazing eye for detail and Miniaturist by day, Medical Lab Scientist by night.  She tells us how she started in 2008, with a book from Sue Heaser, "Making Doll's House Miniatures with Polymer Clay", in which there are many easy to follow tutorials, covering many different types of miniatures.  Now she uses reference pictures, of real food from different angles, to create her tiny replicas.  She buys the cutlery and the dishes, with each clay sculpture taking between 1 and 3 hours to complete, depending on the complexity.

Isaac Cordal can be described as a Street Artist or a narrator of the times we live in.  He uses little figurines to highlight our existence and send a message, asking us to slow down our busy lives and look around, notice things and people surrounding us.  He does this in a very subtle way, he doesn't write an explanation of what he is trying to convey with these pictures, he just presents us with the images and leaves it to us to form an opinion.  We are going to do the same and not add a narrative.

Ame-shin is a beautiful store that keeps the 8th century tradition of Amezaiku alive.  Amezaiku is a sculpture technique that uses heated candy at 90°C to make it malleable.  The sculpture must be finished within a few minutes, before it hardens again.  The the sculpture can be cut, pulled and bent but no part can be cut off, as waste is frowned upon.  A characteristic of this process is that they are formed and therefore always sold on a stick.

Guild of Miniature Artisans Artist and Sculptor Kerri Pajutee makes her sculptures look like the real thing, just a bit shrunken down.  This is how Pajutee describes her miniature sculptures "freehand polymer clay over delicate wire armature, dressed in permanent coats of applied natural fibers".  The main reason for her love of miniatures, is that you can create tiny worlds that contain special memories or recreations of personal encounters, that are always there to act as reminders.

After completing a degree in Scientific Glassblowing Kiva Ford went on to spend years creating, complex and one of a kind glass instruments for scientists.  The complexity of the work as well as the variation in details between jobs, means that his work, cannot be mass produced or attempted by a machine.  Below is a video that illustrates more of Ford's technique and story, followed by a number of images of glass goblets, bottles, pendants and vessels.  Amazing how he manages to encases glass in glass...
