Halloween and magical creatures dressed in color pencils and pastel pencils on paper.
Satu Manninen drew all of the amazing beings you see on this page.
Such an enchanted post. We have a mixture of animals typical of this particular festive season and others that are infused with magic. Plus other fantasy, or fantastic features.
A little history I found online:
"Halloween originates from the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain (pronounced sow-in), which was celebrated over 2,000 years ago, mainly in what is now Ireland, the UK, and northern France.
Date: Celebrated on the night of October 31.
Meaning: It marked the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter. The “dark half” of the year.
The Celts believed that on this night, the boundary between the living and the dead blurred, and spirits could cross over into the world of the living.
To ward off these spirits, people lit bonfires and wore costumes made from animal hides to disguise themselves from wandering ghosts."
All of this history mixes beautifully with the exceptional work Manninen has created. You can see it on this page, the LINK below and of course, the artist's social media page. For the latter, Like in all of your posts, all you have to do is to press the artist's full name above.
3 more days to go and plenty of time to prepare for this fantastic celebration. I hope you all have a wonderful time on the night.
Ps. I gave the images some titles.
