It is amazing how Artist Loui Jover manages to put so much expression in these minimalist drawings produced with ink on vintage book pages.  If you notice the details on the faces are far from Hyper Realistic, but they convey exactly the emotion expressed by the titles he gives them.  His drawings are based on every day activities and emotions without embellishments to try and make them more than they are. This comes through the ease with which you understand the message he is trying to forward his audience.

Artist and Illustrator Thomas Allen creates stories within stories.  What we mean by this is, he gets books that contain a tile and a story within and adds figures, cut-outs, that compliment and add to the original story.  The other cool aspect is his use of vintage books and vintage figures that really add to the overall picture.  Very imaginative work with excellent positioning of the figures, makes his work a pleasure to look at, we hope you enjoy it as much as we have.

It is always good to see art used for good causes and to progress the integration of a condition that many people don't know much about and might be scared to ask, on the off chance they might offend.   Alex Solis finds a very simple but very effective way of teaching Had Signs.  Solis uses a hand and hand drawn cartoons, to symbolise the the letter and to act as a memory recall tool.  He has started a Kickstarter campaign which, is now fully funded and will be selling Prints and Originals together with the Signs & Doodles Book that he can now produce from the funds raised.  More Pictures inside.  Please let us know of other art out there that is used to teach,  see a link to our Contact Page (at the bottom of the page) or the top right part of the page to communicate with DesignStack.

A Second Life for Recycled Book Sculpting

No comments:
00-Long-Bin-Chen-A-Second-Life-for-Recycled-Book-Sculpting-www-designstack-co
Long-Bin Chen is able to carve, out of date books, newspapers, magazines and computer paper, into what looks from afar, like a marble of wooden sculpture.  This is just a very small part of the tons of paper that go to waste every year.  Making art out of refuse should not be seen as a solution to the problem of waste, but as an indication that these materials still have a value, a use after their primary life is over.  As a second life, that these lovely sculptures, express only part, of their potential. If production of paper can't be helped, at least we can put it to good use, after we are finished, with one of its uses.

Discarded UpCycled - Book Rebirth

With a background in collage and mixed media, KerryMiller takes in and revamps discarded books that other people would normally throw away, or have them recycled. When @KerryMi89534986 starts he process of salvage, she only uses the images that are in that book, using ink and watercolours to add a bit more depth and colour in her 3D compositions. These works give these books a second life that might have never have seen, had it not been for her and serve to inspire like minded people as to the possibilities for things that are all around us, sitting in a darkened corner, falling apart. With books going digital in increasing numbers, Miller thinks that this is the right time “to re-imagine the book.” To get the best effect, once in the article you can enlarge the image by pressing it (not the first one).

Talented American Artist Tim Baker describes himself as a Sculptor and a Special Effects Artist.  Amongst the things he produces we have chosen to illustrate his books (this refers to the first 4 shown below, he has 2 more yet to produce).  We understand that he created some these wonderfully detailed covers to house his new graphic novels.  This is a labour intensive project, that can take between 40 and 150 hours to complete.  These are some of the materials he uses: leather, brass, stainless steel, aluminium, river pearls, rivets, hand made paper and parchment and many more.  Once in the article you can enlarge the image by pressing it (not the first one).
