We have featured paper art before but nothing of this scale.  Asya Kozina (Ася Козина) is very versatile, creating from, intricate full scale costumes to, detailed paper dolls and masks.  The intricate nature of the costumes must make them very prone to damage, at any excessive movement, the models must have had to have been so careful.

We are really impressed with the work that Yoo Hyun produces, he slices and crumples the paper in order to create realistic portraits of famous people.  Below we have tried to show just how he manages to accomplish this beautiful effect, by adding an animation, plus another close-up detail.  The advantage that come with this kind of art is that, to refresh it, you just need to change the background and the images will adopt a completely different feel.  Enjoy...

Ever thought you could make Jewellery out of paper?  Jeremy May has and he did "Literary Jewels".  He produces Rings, Bracelets, Necklaces / Pendants and Earrings.  We have chosen to focus on the Rings as they display the best of the characteristics of this fascinating and beautiful means of production.  Pages are taken from books. Music Scores Colour Paper...   May does not reveal his process, except for saying that it is some kind of laminating process, but does not go into details as to how he gets these precision lines on them.   Because the paper he uses is always different, his creations are guaranteed to be a one-off and virtually impossible to reproduce.  To get the best effect, once in the article you can enlarge the image by pressing it (not the first one).

If you like rings, have a look at Star Wars Rings Sculptures.

Artistry and Innovation with Paper Jewelry Rings

Yes they are made out of paper, British artist Jeremy May, started with having to create something for his 1st anniversary (known for the paper gift) and the ring was born from paper.  He then expanded to Bracelets, Necklaces / Pendants and Earrings.  We are going to cover rings today. It can take up to 8 weeks to complete a piece, each piece is unique, with a ring costing on average €400 and he makes about 100 pieces a year.  When his customers put in an order they specify a book, out of which the piece has to be made.  The book serves as the container for the piece, which when laid inside it, is sent to the customer.  It took him 2 years to perfect the laminating process which, he is not prepared to divulge.  That said, he does show part of the process in the video below.

Cut Paper Designs

Bovey Lee creates these intricately precise cut paper designs.  We have chosen a variety of the compositions she has cut out of paper, throughout the years.  There are some fantastic patters, scenes and deceptively easy and simple deigns like the feathers.  There are a lot of qualities needed to produce this kind of artwork, precision, eye for detail and composition but most of all, the patience of a saint to cut out the minute details that make them so wonderful to look at.  You are going to have to enlarge the images to see the details, press the image to do this, (not the first one).

️Journalist and Art lover Nikolai Tolstyh cuts out silhouettes of animals and then gets nature to do the coloring-in by using different natural settings as his background. This summer we saw Fashion Illustrator Shamekh Al-Bluwi, use the same technique, with his cut-outs but, he was showing female silhouettes with Architectural backgrounds, this is the link to the post "Drawings with Architectural Backgrounds".  We don't want to start arguments here and we just wanted to state that, we don't know who came up with the idea first.  We have shown the images as simple GIF animations to highlight just how good an artist Nature really is.

Jennifer Collier uses paper the same way other artists use cloth and more rigid materials.   @paperjennifer uses various ways to work with this material, that most people see as a flimsy medium, by bonding, waxing, trapping, but mostly stitching.  Collier uses old maps books and paper that are destined for recycling or landfill.  We have included a video that shows Collier's amazing process in action.  Once in the article you can enlarge the image by pressing it (not the first one).  Enjoy...

Indian Artist Parth Kothekar, unifies beauty and precision, in his paper cut silhouettes.  As well as that, he puts so much details, that must add a lot of difficulty when drawing and cutting these intricate patterns.  Kothekar started off with graffiti art, when cutting a stencil, he came up with the idea of transitioning to paper cut art.  It was initially a hobby, that has now become for him, a profession.  We have included a bit of a cross section of Kothekar's work below.
