He came up with the idea of asking celebrities for their unwanted items, in exchange for a painting. It soon caught on and as you can see below, he was very successful. We have put together a group of celebrities from the past and the present with a video where, Mecier tells us more about his story and his work. He works with all sorts of materials for his art, this is how he classifies them: Beans, Candy, Food, Junk, Yarn and Miscellaneous. Husband and Wife Allen and Patty Eckman produce these lovely and expressive paper sculptures. They use a method called Cast Paper, that is said to have originated in Mexico in the 1950s, the Eckmans came up with their own way of working the paper, which they call the Eckman Method®. In brief this is the process, a sculpture is made, from that they make a mould, unbleached paper pulp is added to it, then they remove as much as the the water as they can, then comes the real work of sculpting and detailing of the paper. Depending on the size and the level of detail of the piece, it can take a few months to complete. Because the light colouring of the sculptures, you will be able to see more of the details, if you enlarge the images, once in the article you can enlarge the image by pressing it (not the first one).

Incredibly detailed Chicken Wire Sculptures By Ivan Lovatt. I know what you are thinking but he really captures the movement and the expression of the subjects he portrays. We have divided the Sculptures in the article in 2: the first part is animals and the second part is for famous people, you have to see the amazing expressions on them, I am amazed it was done with such an unwieldy material as Chicken Wire, well done.

"The Washed Ashore Project is a non-profit, community-based organization with a mission of educating and creating awareness about marine debris and plastic pollution through art". It is lead by founder Angela Haseltine Pozzi. The mistake that most people make when judging these projects, is to say that the organisers are kidding themselves, if they think that they can get rid of the problem by making art out of all the plastic. In fact what people like Pozzi are doing, is to use art to bring awareness to the problem, making us, all of us, conscious that we are part of the problem and that it is within our power to stop this from happening. These are some sobering statistics: In the last 5 years they have processed 17 tons of plastic into 66 Sculptures. 3 short videos below, 2 from 2013 and the last from 2015, the third looks more at the process.

Kaneda from imgur has brought together a collection of images of people , recreating or posing with the statue to project an images it definitely was not created and sculpted for. Well done to Kaneda and all the people that posed.
