Beautifully different choice of subject by Irish Artist Francis McCrory.  He takes a point of view that most artist wouldn't consider, in these amazing oil paintings on canvas.  The point of these painting is unusual, it is taken from within a car looking through a wet windowscreen that, distorts and misshapens the subject viewed.  There is a sense of beauty in the distorted views that just approximate the forms of subjects depicted within them.

00-Ceardean-Ripple-6 Person-Container-Home-Built-in-3-Days-www-designstack-co
This project was a collaboration between Architects Ceardean and Builders Ripple, to re-fit this 40 by 10 feet (12m by 3m) container into a 6 person Home.  This project was started and finished in 3 days last year with up to 60 contractors working on it. The container home has been donated to the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (SVP) for emergency accommodation.  It has been designed to allow craftsmen with relatively low skill levels to be able to replicate the design, Ceardean have published plans and details to make this happen.  The cost of the conversion was 55,000 Euros but they believe that the costs can be cut to 25-35,000 Euros.
As well as many images and one video, we have included a link to another more complete video that we were not able to embed, this is the link: http://bcove.me/kq0zx5l5

Freelance Illustrator Michael Halbert has been a commercial artist for the last 40 years, for the first 10, he experienced various mediums, but he then settled and focused on scratchboard art. Scratchboard is defined by Wikipedia as "Sharp knives and tools that are used for etching into a thin layer of white China clay that is coated with black India ink".  For the coloured ones, more layers of clay in different colours are laid, so that the deeper the incision the more colours are available to the artist.  Links to other scratchboard art at the end.

Plastic Surgery using the Fibonacci Sequence

No comments:
00-Igor-Kochmala-Plastic-Surgery-using-the Fibonacci-Sequence-www-designstack-co
Russian Designer Igor Kochmala came up with a photo manipulation formula to create plastic surgery models based on the the mathematical formula of the Fibonacci sequence.  This formula pre-dates the 1200's and it is achieved by having the numbers 1 and 1, or 0 and 1 as a staring point.  Then it is the sum of the previous two numbers to form the sequence.  It also appears in biology, such as branching in trees, you can find more info about it on wikipedia.  I am not sure that this procedure will be very popular, but is nice to see alternatives.

Austrian Gabrijela Tumbas Papic has come up with a design for a micro house, if you want to see more of them have a look at our Architecture Micro folder on the left.  The Micro House measures 22m² (237ft²) and just over 4m (13ft) in height.  It is designed to be disassembled and reassembled, making it reasonably easy to transport to different locations.  In the other posts, we have seen the designers make it a point to install large windows to create light and make the place look bigger.  Papic dots small windows all around the little home, maybe to make it more secure during transportation?  The heigh ceiling will make sure that it does not feel claustrophobic, but nice and cosy inside.

Beyond the mastery with which he paints these Hyper Realistic paintings, Brian Tull really makes his art different by focusing on part of the big picture.  These acrylic paintings on canvas, almost look cropped, they force the viewer to pay special attention to the details to try and figure out what the scene is about and what might be going on in the rest of the puzzle, if this is, but one piece.
