American Artist Mark Crilley upon he graduation, took a series of jobs teaching English in the Far East, Taiwan and Japan.  Japan is where he got the inspiration for his Manga series and the, how to draw, Manga videos we are going to feature today.  The last video is How to Draw Elsa from "Frozen".  These videos are a bit longer that we usually have and that is because, even though Crilley uses some time lapse, he does a lot of explaining.  If you are somebody that wants to learn this style of drawing, we would suggest that you draw as you watch the video stopping and starting it, to keep up with it.  In this post you will learn very useful information, on how to set up guide lines, facial expressions, drawing hands, body proportions, shading, line work and much more.

Painting and Drawing Portraits with Dry Brush

No comments:

In this post Igor Kazarin shows us and tells us about this amazing technique.  It is achieved by using a very small amount of oil paint, mixed with solvents like sewing machine lubricating oil.  A small amount is put on the brush which is rubbed in on the palette, to the point where the brush looks dry.  Now it can be used to paint on watercolour paper and any mistakes and highlights can be erased with a rubber.  This amazing paint effect makes painted images look like pencil drawings. The sped up videos below, will show you just how good this technique is and how the shades are layered to make the painting look so realistic.

Kaleb Higgins is a talented street artist that shows us how to stencil portraits or buildings.  By looking at the videos below, you can see how he divides the features of the face on different stencils, the same way, when he starts painting the Los Angeles Theatre Stencil, he puts details, background, shadows on different stencil.  There should be enough there to pick up the basics to this art form.  Enjoy trying it out...
