Vintage Camera Sculptures Made of Books and Maps

Born in Taiwan and now living in California, in the US, Ching Ching Cheng, has always had an interest in machinery and the way they work.  She has now found a way to combine her interest in machinery with her love for art, in these sculptural recreations of camera equipment made of paper.  Cheng uses paper from recycled books, maps and film negatives, all glued together, to form the interesting retro Camera sculptures.

Stitched Paper Sculptures

Jennifer Collier uses paper the same way other artists use cloth and more rigid materials.   @paperjennifer uses various ways to work with this material, that most people see as a flimsy medium, by bonding, waxing, trapping, but mostly stitching.  Collier uses old maps books and paper that are destined for recycling or landfill.  We have included a video that shows Collier's amazing process in action.  Once in the article you can enlarge the image by pressing it (not the first one).  Enjoy...

LoFi-Fisheye Camera

This inventor describes himself as a Researcher, Writer, Socialist and lives in Wales.  Greg Dash was originally looking for a fisheye lens for his camera but found it to be too expensive. When researching, he found out that there are no fisheye cameras on the market, so he went about building his own one. He is now looking to mass produce, maybe for Xmas.  Originally raised the money for his first run from Indiegogo where you can find more information.

RC Flying Car

This is a prototype of a remote controlled (RC) car that can do a lot of things. It can be driven like  normal RC car and it can also fly like a helicopter.  Furter more it is equipped with a 720x1280 HD camera that is mounted on the front of the car, that supports a 32gb Micro SD card so that you can film all your stunts from the the ground or sky. Witold Mielniczek inventor of the flying car also called 'B' is based in Southampton in the UK. At the moment he is trying to raise the money he needs for manufacturing from Kickstarter. Woven Oil Paintings

This woven kind of art is the work of Cuban artist Alexi Torres.  He takes iconic images and gives them a different twist.  You will have to enlarge the images in the article to appreciate the level detail to make it look like interlaced wool.  It is almost a sculpture using paint, he has to build up and draw all the strands to complete the painting.

Incredible product that can be moulded to any shape and when cured it will stick to the surface it has been applied to.  Sugru It is workable for 30 minutes and cures for 24 hours.  When cured it becomes a flexible silicone which is heat and water proof.
