A look at cities and buildings you wouldn't normally get by just walking around the city. In this post there are so many examples of bird's-eye view. A simple way of taking in everything that a city/town has to offer.
When I mentioned in the past, that I am having problems picking an overall favourite, it's not to pay a compliment to the artist, it's... I will try to explain it the best I can. If you look at the drawings below, they are good and they have many qualities. Some of them tend to lean more towards realism and others to rougher sketches. Realism is not better than a sketch and vice versa. They both have strong points and attributes to like. So, even if their style is very different, you can like them both, but for different reasons. A very long-winded way of saying I have many favourites in this post. So there, I have said it. : )
I will list a few of the characteristics I was mentioning above: In the first drawing, it's how these structures interact with each other. Imagine them as people lining up for a group photo and each person is jostling for the best position. They cover one another in the race to find the best spot. The same thing happens here. You see mostly parts and slithers of buildings. All collected in a highly complex scene.
Love the winged lion and the precision in the second drawing. The third is an example of subtle detailing. Look how light and how inconspicuous the shading is... Drawing four is a collection of snapshot drawings of the town of Holmfirth. If Radu were to be asked for a description of the place, This would be the response. Rather, chooses to depict the salient points of each structure.
I could do this for all of the drawings on this page. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have.
