Sanguine pencil portrait drawings of faces with an array of expressions.
A French artist that goes by the name of Alanrap drew all of the likenesses you see on this page.
I love the attention to detail in the features of the people you see in this post.
The other thing I like is the softness of the application of the lines and shading. It gives the piece that slightly off-realistic and off-sharpness look. It carries it into a kind of fantasy/ethereal realm. It's a sight that truly endears the viewer to finished piece.
I like the amount of details in the lady from the first drawing down. There is so much to notice and appreciate. Some aspects are more subtle than others. They are all there if you take a long look at it. The part I love is the depth of the expression. It looks like concern of some kind. The actual and precise reason might be up for interpretation, but her unease is not. It is palpable and clear for everyone to read on her face and features.
Similarly, but in a different way, the same can be said about the look on the face of image two. Again, the detailing a predominant feature of this and all of the other sketches on this page.
Good art is one that keeps you glued to the image. You study it, or you sit in quiet contemplation as you find yourself transfixed without a clear thought in your mind.
I hope you find these or other feelings in Alanrap's work and any other art you find yourself in front of.
Ps. I gave the images some titles.
