A colourful collection of bird life in the form of animal pencil drawings.
Kate Hicks drew all of the feathered animals you see on this page.
These realistic representations are of avian life I recognise and the ones I have never seen or heard of before.
So many of them have a distinguishing characteristic. Take, for example, the barn owl and that sweet tilted head look. Then, the kingfisher preening in drawing number five. This pose also gives us the chance to see the different layers of feathers in the wing that is slightly stretched.
As far as detailing is concerned, the piece I like the most is drawing 4, which is the likeness of a pied heron. It's not just the beauty of the detailing, but it's also about the interesting plumage this bird comes with. Plus, look at the beautiful golden beak.
Have a look through these drawings for the skill and work that has gone into Hicks's likenesses.
