Surreal Paintings and Optical Illusions

British Neil Simone has been an Artist for the last 40 years and today we are going to focus on his surreal paintings.  Like some of the best in this field, Simone gives great importance to the titles he gives his pieces, that as well as explaining them, form clever puns and double meanings.  You can enlarge the images by pressing them (not the first one) so that you can see the smooth transitions of scenery within the paintings, that helps form, the beautiful optical illusions within them.

Optical Illusions Body Painting

Recent winner of Skin Wars (a body painting show), Natalie Fletcher uses people's bodies as her canvas.  We think that all of her works displayed today are Optical Illusions, as they try and blend the person with their backgrounds, except for the first 4, that do not rely on a background to trick the eye.  We have included below a Video that tells you a bit more of how Fletcher got into body painting and the direction her career is taking now.

Evan Penny is an amazing sculptor that concentrates not only on making his works as realistic as possible, but has a real particular and spellbinding way of studying the way we view each other.  To see this, you must watch the video it is really fascinating, the way he uses 3D sculptures to symbolise the way we perceive people. More of his sculptures below the video.  Even though he does not keep a meticulous track of time, Penny estimates that, the small sculptures take him about 200 to 300 hours to complete and it is no wonder when you see the finish result.  The first 3 sculptures come with a photograph of the model.
