Damon Belanger is a graphic artist that lives and works in San Francisco. He has experimented with many different forms of art and venues in the past. The project that caught my eye, was his paintings of shadows that are created using acrylic paints. It is as if the world of surrealism is popping into ours, animating in bizarre ways, the object that are located on our sidewalks. We are witnessing the shadows disassociating from the original object and assuming a life of their own. Maybe a hat tip to Peter Pan and his shadow? A very inventive way of making us notice every day objects like a parking meter, a train station railing, a bicycle parking post, a bench and more. I wonder what happens when the shadows from our world come up and compete with them...
