Images in the Sky - Cloud Drawings

Many people have, at some time in their live, looked up at the sky and have seen familiar images in clouds.  Argentinian creative, Martín Feijoó, now working in Madrid Spain, had an idea on his lat trip to Mexico, he decided to take pictures of clouds and then outline them with pens to show us the image he could see hiding in them.  We have included some, of the original clouds side by side with the drawing, to allow you to see the Before and After.

Animal Illustrations Play on Words

Architecture - Grand Cancun Eco Island

This concept idea is the brainchild of Architect Richard Moreta Castillo.  The intention is, that this floating city will be constructed in the Caribbean by 2020, that coincides with the 50th anniversary of the foundation of Cancun.  there is so much to say about this construction that we are going to split it through out the post.  Press the images to enlarge them and see the text.  Remember to come out of the enlarged view to see more information below the pictures.

Love for the Doodle Drawing

American Artist Peter Deligdisch says that he really likes to draw.  He expresses his love for art on many different mediums like paper, wood, animal skulls and it seems anything else that comes to hands.  We have concentrated on his paper drawings and three of his time-lapse video drawings, that will help any starting artist out there, showing how to setup the drawing and progressively add detail to it.  We hope this helps and that you enjoy it as much as we have.

The Beauty of Paintings in Digital Art

Spanish Digital Artist Jaime Sanjuan Ocabo, loves to create art and when he is not paintings on his tablet, he is writing his PhD on Art and new Technologies.  As noted on his drawings he loves to draw and paint without using a stylus but only his fingers.  We have included video demonstration of his work, in that you will be able to see how he adds textures and colours to build up the skin and object textures.  The same technique can be applied to help with real life painting or drawings.

Surreal Numerical Photography - Virtual Paintings

French Photographer Jean-François Rauzier coined the name, Hyperphoto which is a mixture of hundreds and sometimes thousands of pictures, very big and very small, from all different angles, to create one final one.  He collects many pictures of a subject and then uses Photoshop to place them in the the right place and the right prospective, like you would do with a puzzle.  Rauzier's work is very fluid and incredible detailed, most of the time he doesn't have a final picture in his head when he takes the photographs.  They come together when he gets the various components and can then see what fits where.  We have included a video, that is in French and subtitled in English, it will give you a better understanding of his fantastic process.

Illustrations - Assemble Monsters with IKEA Instructions

Cartoonist, Graphic Designer and Illustrator Ed Harrington creates this clever "How to Assemble a horror film monster" using the illustration style, of IKEA Instructions . The titles include classic Horrors like Alien, The Fly, Friday the 13th, down to the The Human Centipede which we leave down to you to comment on.  Very funny and well executed illustrations, they should make the job, an easy one to complete. Don't loose your cool if it doesn't go together right away and don't worry if you end up with extra pieces at the end, it's normal.

UK based Freelance Artist Illustrator and photo manipulator Roy Pyper aka nerdboy69, creates these remastered photo manipulation of the most popular characters from The Walking Dead. Pyper brings them to us, just in time for Series 05, enjoy these expressive pictures and the new series.

Shipping Containers - Eco-Home in the Hamptons

6 Shipping Containers come together to form a home, comprised of: 4 bedroom 2 bathroom + Kitchen and Living room on the first floor totalling 2,000 square feet (186 m2).  The house comes with a 1,300 square feet (121 m2) exterior deck area, that includes a small swimming pool. The Eco-Home also called "The Beach Box", is set in the Hamptons in the US and is the project of Andrew Anderson, who acquired the six containers (8 x 20 feet) (2.4m x 6m) from New York based SG Blocks.  The value of this development was set at $1.395 million, the fact that it is in the Hamptons and it is 600 feet (183m) from the ocean, might have something to do with the price tag.  Much more information on the video and images below below.

Calzado have an incredible amount of detail and precision.  We are used to use these terms for art like of hyper Realistic Art, but Calzado manages to inject these properties into his paintings. He manages to find a way of beautifully marrying, sharp, precise geometric shapes and the fluid curves he conveys in his overall pictures.  These images can be viewed in 2 ways:

Italian digital Artist and Photographer Francesco Sambo creates these strange Man-Animal Hybrids.  These are different from the ones we have shown previously on this site, firstly they are Animal Human and not Animal Animal mashups.  Second the Artists that make them, always try and give them the cute factor which, is one thing that this artist, intentionally steers clear from, producing these raw and thought provoking images.

Partially Formed Dreams in Paintings

Mirrored Faces in Tree Photography

Italian Photographer Elido Turco, uses Photoshop to mirror images pictures, he takes in the forest to create amazing faces.  People have a propensity to see faces in things, it is said that we begin recognising faces and start learning to identify expressions on people, from between 2 and 3 years old.  You can definitely see a variety of them, on these images.

Drawing and Painting Hyper Realities

German Artist Dirk Dzimirsky is as capable with a paintbrush, as he is with a pencil.  Between the two he says, he prefers the pencil, as it allows him to use more complex layering and to add more form to the drawings.  Dzimirsky uses a photograph as a reference, once he has sketched the outlines and has all the proportions in place, he does not want to make a like for like copy of it, he wants his painting and drawings to be able to be read like the description from a writer.  Dzimirsky's approach to drawing and painting can be seen by the choice of his models, who have, deep and expressive looks, that portrays perfectly on canvas and paper.

Architectural Earth House

Architect Peter Vetsch from Vetsch Architektur, designed this group of houses in Dietikon, Switzerland.  This residential settlement is set around an artificial pond and consists of nine houses, 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 bedroom and a 7 bedroom house. The living space varies from between 646 square feet (60 m2) to 2153 (200 m2) per house.  This small estate is set amongst conventional housing and agricultural land and is accessed by a concealed entrance that takes you to the basement which is used for storage, access to the homes and parking space.  More information and a video in the main portion of the post.

25 Cent Wonders - Illustrations

Illustrator Patrick Ballesteros creates "25 Cent Wonders" that represent the moving rides outside toy shops, convenient stores, and supermarkets.  These are machines that you probably are familiar with in different parts of the world, that would not work with 25 cents, but you get the point. Push Pins Portrait Art

American Portraitist Eric Daigh creates portraits using Push Pins.  We have recently neglected one of the categories on our site, "Art using Everything" you can see the link, at the top of the post or on the left of the screen with the rest of the categories.  This joins the beautiful compilation of artwork created with items that were never intended to be used in an artistic way.  The further away you look at them or the smaller you make the image the more detailed they look.

Hyper Realistic High Life

Artist Cj Hendry likes the finer things in life, just look at the subjects she chooses to draw.  Her Hyper Realistic drawings are larger than the ones we usually see.  To give a better idea of scale we have chosen pictures that include Hendry her self.  We have added a video of a handbag she drew for you to see, more of her process.  It takes a bit to get to the drawing part just be patient it is worth it.

Animator vs. Animation IV - Drawing

Alan Becker Started creating animations as a hobby and produced the "Animator vs. Animation" series.  He began, when he was quite young, when he reached the third set of animations he decided he wanted to do this professionally.  He thought that if he was going to do it full time, he would have to get a paycheck to allow him to dedicate enough time on it.  He started a Kickstarter campaign, achieving his goal of financing his project and has now released the latest in his series, Animator vs. Animation IV.  The video is 13 minutes long and it is worth watching all of it without skipping, as the animation tells a story and you might miss important portions of it.  We have added "Animator vs. Animation" animations 1, 2, and 3 in case you have not seen them.

Surreal Large Bicycle Drawing

French Illustrator Ugo Gattoni created these drawings for the 2012 London Olympics.  it is an impressive feat, not only in size, 197 x 16 inches (5 meters long by 41 centimeters high), but also the amount of work that went into it, 723 hours.  We have included a video to show you a bit of it in action.  To see more detail we suggest that you enlarge the images, you can do that by pressing them.  We have included two more projects from Gattoni towards the end, as we are so impressed with his work.

The G-Pod... imagine extending out a 20 Foot shipping container, the way most top-end RVs (recreational vehicles) do. The makers say that when fully extended it can almost triple its floor area.  It can be transported all over the world and can be used as an office, pop-up venue, student accommodation, home or vacations retreat.  Because of its modular structure, more components can be added if necessary.  The standard structure is a 20 foot container 1 Bed 1 WC Shower room and kitchen / lounge with foldable windows leading to the deck. Or the 40 foot container that has 1 double room and a room for 2 single beds.  They offer a number of variations on the floor plans to suit your needs.
