Cute little doodle drawings of little creatures.
Vince Okerman created all the sweet little figures you see on this page.
There is a lovely balance of form and whimsy in this post. It's not a coincidence that we have a Yin and Yang sphere included on this page.
The little beings are being crammed together to form masses and the detailing in the forms you see below. I will give you a quick example of what I mean: If you have a look at drawing 4, you will see a lion. The mane is not drawn as hairs. They take the form of elongated filaments full of different creatures. The balloons in drawing 5 follow the same structure and so on.
One technique I have not seen before is the one adopted in drawing 6. The top layer doodle colour sketch has a strip pulled away from it. Below it, you see the equivalent design in black and white. A very effective design effect.
I have two favourites here: The first is of the hand drawing its own slipstream. I like the toning down of the graphics as the characters morph into the hand.
The next is a seemingly simple one. In this, the balloons seem to be held by a real hand. I like how each balloon is emoting. They are doing their best to convey their feelings through expressions. The subtle is how Okerman has included transparency within them. A touch that changes the dynamic of the image, for me.
How about you? Which one/s do you feel gravitating towards?
Ps. I gave the images some titles.
