Animal sketch drawings using ink markers.
This is the work of artist Sam Beart. Beart drew all of the art you see on this page.
As well as drawings, she gives advice in tutorial videos. The one that is pertinent to this post is the use and common mistake when using marker pens.
As well as including many conventional birds and mammals, the artist adds some fantasy and surreal ones. The first to mention is a mythical creature that comes in the form of a unicorn. The second one is a dog with glasses. This canine is set apart from the rest. You can see it in that confident, knowing look and the slightest most subtle of grins. This is a dog not to be messed with. : )
There are three more I would like to highlight: The first are actually 2. I am talking about the two parrots. Drawings 7 and 8. Between the two, 7 is the coolest. Look at those spiky feathers on the head and that beautifully alert and curious look.
The next is the zebra. I think it's because of the beautiful patterns on this wonderful animal. There is more though. That is the clever choice of the background colour and the expert gradient application moving from a light to dark hue. Some of these colours affect the bands on the animal in the best and lightest way. These are the details that, even when we are not aware, have a very positive impact on our viewing appreciation.
Enjoy Beart's work and your sixth day of the week. If it's one of rest, go all out. If it isn't, don't worry. Your turn is coming and when it does, I will be here with a post for you too.
