Bulgarian Sculptor Dimitar Valchev collects all sorts of metals that are destined for the landfill or the recycle pile, from cutlery, pans, springs, watch mechanisms and so much more. He concentrates his beautiful artworks on animals, insects and abstract sculptures. We have added below an animation of one of Valchev's sculptures the "Flea" to show you a bit more of the various metals that form these impressive forms.

We have chosen to show a mix of his projects that show his versatility in creating different types of art. We have featured this talented artist before in the post: "Pencil Shaving Portraits". He some times takes a literal point of view whist other times an out of the box approach when creating, enjoy the variety in this artists work.

Cuban Artist Steven Rodrig has been interested in creating art with unconventional materials since he was very young. While repairing computers and other electronic equipment, he found a natural progression for his art. He took PCBs (Printed Circuit Boards) that reached the end of their lives, and Upcycled them, to give them a fresh and new sculptural life. If you want another example of Electronic Recycling just click on this link: Recycled Re-Purposed Furniture Sculptures and look at the bottom of that post.

Norwegian Artist Christopher Conte, now living in New York, creates these fantastic biomechanical sculptures which, combine his love for anatomy and robotics. After finishing his Fine Arts degree, he started working in he world of prosthetics, (artificial limbs for amputees). He spent 16 years doing this job whilst creating biomechanical sculptures in his spare time, which then became his new full time job. He creates his own pieces as well as using recycled parts, like the Singer Creature at the end of the post. Amazing lines and the precision in his sculptures, make them an absolute pleasure to look at.

Arturas Tamasauskas is a Lithuanian Artist that likes to get bits an pieces of discarded items like, watches cutlery, shells, car parts, piping and many many more... recycling and upcycling them to make these lovely little sculptures. Where most people would see a piece of junk that should either go into the recycle pile or the bin, Tamasauskas sees a part to his newest sculpture. By all accounts birds are the sculptures he most likes to represent due to their particular physiology. See if you can identify all of the components that form these imaginative sculptures, it is amazing when you really look at the detail.

This was a real find, Paul J. Stankard an American glass artist that encapsulates nature in his globes and glass forms. We have included 2 videos that go into his life history and how he came to producing these intricate glass sculptures, so we are going to skip this. The images can be enlarges so that you can see some of the amazing details he manages to add in them. Maybe more beautiful that the finish piece is seeing Stankard producing these small masterpieces, you can see it in the first video. The second one goes a bit more in depth into his work and his relationship with the Akron Art Museum, which houses the largest public collection of his work.
