We have posted drawing cut-outs in real life situations before, but this is the first time that we have seen this done with vintage Black and White Photographs.  Yorch Miranda cleverly positions them in funny or interesting situations, using them to tell as story for which he gives a title and the image, the rest is for us to imagine.

Vintage Typography

We have tendency to think that typography (drawing letters in an artistic form) is a modern invention.  These images were Printed by Charles Joseph Hullmandel a lithographer (early form of printing that used stone or metal on which images or letters or a combination of the two were reproduced using ink and paper) sometime between 1819 and 1850.  It looks like the artist that created at least some, if not all of the letters, was L.E.M. Jones, have a look at the inscriptions under the letters A, C, D, I, K and Z.  These wonderfully detailed imaged are now kept at the British Museum. You can enlarge them by pressing the images, not the first one.  How do you think these compare with their modern equivalent?  Let us know in the comment section at the end of the article.

Vintage Looking Beer and Water Paintings

All the best artist start with a simpler medium and then with experience and time, progress to more difficult and complex ones. Karen Eland is a bit different in her choices, as she started with coffee and then moved on to painting with beer.  We have included below a video where Eland tells us a bit more about her history and her technique.  The paintings are painted only using water and beer, at various states of dehydration, the less water content, the thicker and darker it becomes.  Using water to dilute it, she can get many different shades of brown giving her paintings depth and that beautiful old / vintage sepia look.

Yes, as you may have guessed by the title, these are not photographs, but very realistic paintings, by talented artist, Doug Bloodworth.  He was heavily influenced by American Western Classics, from a young age, which he is now able to express, together with pop culture, in his realistic paintings.  Throughout his carer, he has worked trough several genres of art, that span form painting caricatures to billboards.  He is now concentrating his art, around this fascinating and realistic art form, mixed with a bit of nostalgia. Time-lapse video of one of his pieces, below.

Recycled Toy Sculptures

Derek Scholte works with items that other people throw away or sell in flea markets.  He loves the aged look of metals which he incorporates into his art without disguising them,  leaving all the imperfections rust and blemishes.  We have included the materials used in every sculpture, as listed on Scholte's site.  Very clever move on his behalf, as it adds so much more to the finish product.  His inspiration comes from Steampunk and the film industry, Tim Burton, Jean Pierre Jeunet, Rat Rods, Mad Max.
