CEO & Co-Founder of Carbon3D and CLIP, a new 3D printing machine, Joseph DeSimone and his colleagues constructed.  The printer was first inspired by the film Terminator 2 and specifically the T-1000 that could regenerate into any form, from a puddle of melted material.  This technology has substantial improvements on the typical 3D printing tech out there, 1st, it is 25 to 100 times faster (DeSimone is confident it could reach 1000 times faster as the printer is refined).  2nd smooth no more ridges on the finished sculpture, like on the ones that we see now.  This system uses a combination of three main components UV light, Oxygen and Resin (more in the video below).  We have included 3 videos on examples of what can be built at this stage, the fourth one is a ten minute speech where DeSimone explains the beautiful elegance in which his machine works.

Vertical Farms for a new Agricultural Revolution

Mr Jack Ng from Sky Greens based in Singapore, has built the first low carbon hydraulic driven vertical farm, to grow sustainable and cheap vegetables for the island nation's use.  Because the the arable land is so scarce in Singapore, radical rethinking has had to take place.  It is estimated that Singaporeans only grow 7% of their vegetables, the rest is imported from all around the world.  Because of its position in-respect of the equator. the nation has a stable warm and sunny climate all year around and during monsoon season the climate control enclosed structure, protects from the force and quantity of rain that comes down during that period.  These are the promises this type of farming makes: High yield, quality, flexibility, low energy and water use and little maintenance.  We will go into more detail below with the video and more information.

Russian native and based in London Marija Tiurina's day job, consists of working as a games artist, during her spare time working on her illustration, character art and graphic design portfolio.  The part of her work we are going to have a look at today is a collaboration with Saatchi & Saatchi ME, for their latest advertising campaign, a drink that is supposed to make going to sleep easier.  Even though a hand drawn drawing might take longer to complete and is more difficult to alter, Tiurina was really happy they allowed her to express her creativity.  It took her a couple of months to complete them. The 3 drawing's themes centre around: plane, camping and home interior.

French Canadian Illustrator Nico Delort draws these magnificent illustrations using inks or the scratchboard. (this is how wikipedia describes it: Scraperboard or scratchboard refers to both a medium, and an illustrative technique using sharp knives and tools for etching into a thin layer of white China clay that is coated with black India ink.)  Given the quality of his work it is not surprising he has clients like, Blizzard Ent. - Games Workshop/The Black Library - Quirk Books - Tor.com - Solaris Books - Lucasfilm - Penguin Books - Mondo.

Recent winner of Skin Wars (a body painting show), Natalie Fletcher uses people's bodies as her canvas.  We think that all of her works displayed today are Optical Illusions, as they try and blend the person with their backgrounds, except for the first 4, that do not rely on a background to trick the eye.  We have included below a Video that tells you a bit more of how Fletcher got into body painting and the direction her career is taking now.

Beautiful Illustrations by British Illustrator and Sculptor Adam Oehlers.  The Lovely proportions of his subjects and the character they exude, with incredible expressions, is what sets them aside from most, they are not always happy and joyful, just like life itself.  Oehlers says that "I like to think that all of my images and sculptures belong to the same little universe. Built by the stories of each of the characters that inhabit it".  Enjoy the travel through and stay in the world of Oehlers...

Some of the best Artwork, is produced because of real and deep feelings from the Artist, Olivier Lamboray is one of them.  Themes recurring in his acrylic on canvas paintings, are the love and fascination for travel, that started when he was a child and lived next to an airport, he spent time imagining people going to all sorts of places, getting into all sots of adventures.  The others, are the breakaway architecture that melds into the background, symbolising the breakaway of the façades that adorn our lives and then there is his faithful dog.

The images above and below show the building unveiled in Australia.  The section below shows a bit more about how the system works.  The double glazing and south facing sun room, act as a buffer, trapping the heat that is removed by the ventilations system.  This barrier keeps the bedroom /s and the living room cool.  At the end of the page you can find the 4 different types of homes they offer, including prices and sizes.

Haroshi, a self-taught Japanese artist, with a love of skateboarding, found a way of combining his two passions.  In his art, he makes good use of broken skateboard to recycle them and upcycle them into art.  In all his sculptures he doesn't try and hide, rather, he enhances the details that point to the origin of the material he is using.  If you look at them closely you will see the laminated boards that go into constructing the skateboard.  Some times he leaves the sculpture open or not perfectly smooth so that we can see how the sculpture was put together.  His sculptures cover a varied field of interests, with a varied amount of subjects, we have paired them so that you can see them from different angles and not miss any of the details.

Kristie Wolfe defines herself , amongst most things, as a I'm a Tiny House Builder and a Dress Maker.  Wolfe originally started with a mobile tiny home, then saw this plot of land for sale in Hawaii for $8,000 on craigslist, which she bought unseen and built this 230ft² 21m² house with her mother over the space of 2 months, working from early morning to night.  A further $4,000 was spent for flights truck rental and food for the 2 months.  The house is self sufficient and off the grid.  It produces electricity from solar panels to power LED lights, laptop and charging the phone.   Wolfe collects rain water that is purified and used for drinking and washing, a propane heater to heat up the water.  The video below, is 23 minutes long and for some, might feel like an eternity but, it is very well edited with a lot of information and a walk-through all of the features of this home, with a description of the method of construction showing, amongst everything else, how to use items in a way they were not designed for.

Beijing vagabond, this is what immigrants in the city are called.  People that do not have a permanent residence, are poor and are in low paid jobs.  Dai Haifei, 24 graduated from collage, is now working in an Architectural Firm and built himself this small habitation for less than $1,000 Height 6.5 feet (2m) - Length 10 feet (3m) - Width 6.5 feet (2m).  He tried to rent in a very crowded house but ran out of money, his new home does not allow him to save much, but something is better than nothing and it is a lot better, he says that it is in his home town.  His tiny home was woven with bamboo and held in place with nails. Beyond the bamboo, there are layers of insulation and waterproofing. Most of the thermal insulation, (that turns out not to be much) is provided by sacks stuffed with sawdust and grass seed. In the spring, will grow making the home more visually acceptable.  Solar panes on the outside provide some electricity.  More information below.  Via sina If you like this have a look at "Architecture and the underground Rat Tribe Inhabitants"

This Led Light can be used for any space that does not have access to natural lighting or, is in a country where the sun in small supply.  Principal uses include: shopping malls, stores, offices, fitness centres, hotels, museums, hospitals, underground system / Metro.  We left housing last because, although the system costs about $61,000 to buy and $7,600 to install and would be out of the reach of most, it wouldn't be out of the reach of multi million dollar houses or buildings.
