Self sustainability, a concept that is not achieving traction in our society, I am guessing too much push-back from the people that have all to loose from this way of life and this way of thinking...

Incredible miniature foods. They vary from savoury to sweet dishes and staged in a lot of different ways.  Stéphanie Kilgast has been very busy, it would be very difficult to put all the images that are on the site as there are so many.  The match gives you a sense of scale.  These are not just miniature creations they are very well coloured shaded and detailed.  Apart from a Dolls house let me know how you would us these miniatures.

Recycled Container House

To me this project shows how, scarcely utilised a potential asset like shipping containers are.  Yes there are small scale projects here and there that use containers, once they have reached the end of the life as maritime freight, but mainstream Architecture and Engineering have not really embraced these cheap building blocks to their full potential.  Architect Benjamin Garcia Saxe constructed a home in San Jose, Costa Rica, which was very inexpensive compared to traditional buildings, that allowed the owners to live debt free, without having to compromise with design and functionality.  The house allows for spectacular views thanks to the amount of glass used.

As compact as it is cosy, this little cottage looks as good on the outside as it does on the inside.

The Tardis is a reference to television series, Doctor Who, it's a time travelling machine which looks like an old style British Police Box.  The other characteristic of the box, is that inside, it's massive compared to the outside.

This is the second time we feature Kim Clough aka (fairchildart) an Artist with an amazing eye for detail and Miniaturist by day, Medical Lab Scientist by night.  She tells us how she started in 2008, with a book from Sue Heaser, "Making Doll's House Miniatures with Polymer Clay", in which there are many easy to follow tutorials, covering many different types of miniatures.  Now she uses reference pictures, of real food from different angles, to create her tiny replicas.  She buys the cutlery and the dishes, with each clay sculpture taking between 1 and 3 hours to complete, depending on the complexity.

Residential Architecture with the Shell House

Reinforced concrete structure in the middle of the woods, surrounded by rocks trees and caves.  This residential building was never constructed by Artechnic Architects to blend with nature, but to resist it.  The house is situated in Karuizawa, Nagano 1 hour train ride from Tokyo Japan.  Low temperatures and a high degree of humidity, helped by the fact that the houses in the area are used intermittently as holiday homes, all contribute to the homes starting to rot.  In order to avoid this problem and cut the amount of maintenance, Artechnic decided to go for this structure.  The running of the House is made easier by the fact that the central control system enables all mechanical and electrical equipments to be managed by three buttons.

Ibuku designed this beautiful bamboo house in Bali. It consists of a three bedroom house, split on four levels, that descend with the slope, it is built on.  The house includes an open plan Kitchen, Dining, Living Area, as well as a Media Room and an Office.  It was completed in six months and has a 325 m² (3498 ft²) Floor Area.  The open structure of the building really makes the most, of the beautiful weather they get in Bali, a dream for the countries that experience harsher winter weather.
